Jane Marilyn Haines Foster Scholarship

Greenfield Central School Foundation is honored to administer the Jane Marilyn Haines Foster Scholarship.  Mrs. Foster, a graduate of Greenfield High School, went on to earn multiple higher education degrees, including a doctorate. She spent her life teaching and volunteering in both the Head Start Program and in the public-school system with a focus on disadvantaged students. Her husband of over sixty years, Gilbert Davis Foster, and her children and grandchildren established this scholarship in her memory to carry on her legacy by helping to make a college degree possible for a student who may not otherwise be able to afford it and to promote equity in education.
This fund may be used for tuition and room/board. Selection will be based on community service, scholastic ability, and achievement. Financial need will be considered, but students who are Twenty-First Century Scholars are not eligible. One $8000 scholarship will be given per year. Preference may be given to first-generation college students. The scholarship may be renewable for up to 4 years if the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA or higher. Students must submit a copy of an official college transcript before August 1 each year for the scholarship to be renewed.  Click here for application.
